HOW CAN WE HELP?

General

Making an account on Second Outing is easy. Follow these simple steps to get started:

  1. Access the website or download the Second Outing app on the iTunes Store/ Google Play Store. 
  2. Click the account icon, then ‘register’.
  3. A verification email will be sent to your email address. Follow this to confirm your details.
  4. Complete your profile and upload the requested ID verification. 
  5. Begin exploring, listing and renting!

It’s free to create an account and list items on Second Outing. 

We apply a small 10% commission of the transaction value per booking, on the side of the lender and lendee. This allows us to run and improve the service we offer to our community.

As a community, we ask users to review transactions to build trust and reputation on the platform. 

We ask lendees to consider detailing points such as:

  • What did you rent the item for? 
  • Did it suit the end purpose?
  • Was the description and condition of the item accurately described? If not, how could this be improved?
  • Communication
  • What did you wear with your item? Upload an outfit picture if you have one!
  • Who would you recommend the item for?

PayPal or Stripe are available to use. Neither require an account to be created for Lendees but both do for Lenders.

Stripe is online payment processing system like PayPal. With this option, you’ll be able to receive automatic payouts. 

Lenders

Get more from your designer wardrobe by turning sought after pieces into assets that work for you. By lending, you can offer an exciting, more sustainable alternative to buying new, all while earning a return on the clothing you’ve invested in. 

We have taken steps to ensure that renting your wardrobe is a safe and beneficial experience. 

  • User ID Verification– All users are instructed to upload a valid copy of ID when creating an account. This is to give peace of mind for all users.
  • Rental Requests– The choice to accept, decline or negotiate bookings is all in your hands. 
  • Review System– Build your reputation as a user by reviewing and being reviewed on your transactions.

Items must be in clean, presentable condition before being sent out.  

To avoid any disputes as a lendee, if you feel an item is not clean upon arrival, please contact the lender as soon as you can after receiving. Please don’t attempt to clean the item yourself, as this may leave you liable to charges if any damage occurs to the item. 

Lendees

Rather than making one-time purchases that go on to gather dust in your wardrobe, spend your money more wisely using the ever-growing choice of rental options available on Second Outing.

Whether you’re looking for a weekend outfit, holiday clothes or something special for an upcoming event, our lenders have got you covered.

When you see an item you like, simply use the calendar to select the dates you wish to book for, and send the request to the lender. 

The lender will then be prompted to respond to your booking. If a booking is declined, you can message the lender to negotiate a suitable time/date to book the item. 

When the lender approves your booking, you will receive a notification and a link to pay via PayPal or Stripe. 

If you don’t need to rent it just yet, you can add it to your wish list for when the time is right!

As a community, we encourage members to try and resolve disputes together before escalating.

However, we are here to help when things don’t quite go to plan. Submit your query on our ‘Contact’ page or email info@secondouting.com for support.

Lender’s tips to a straightforward transaction:

  • Use good quality pictures and honest descriptions of your item when listing. 
  • Take detailed pictures each time before sending an item to ensure an up-to-date record of condition.
  • Respond to messages and dispatch items in a timely manner.
  • Provide accurate sizing information.
  • Keep a record of delivery/ tracking information.

Lendee’s tips to a straightforward transaction:

  • Read item descriptions and ask any questions (i.e. sizing) before booking.
  • Treat items with care to avoid damage.
  • Return items on time. Late returns may incur penalties (see terms and conditions for more).
  • Keep a record of delivery/ tracking information. 

We recommend charging up to 5% of the item’s RRP per day of rental. Postage and cleaning costs should also be factored into prices. 

Our recommendations are a guideline to help provide competitive prices that make Second Outing a cost-effective alternative, but ultimately it is the lender’s decision what to charge per booking.

Payments made outside of the platform are prohibited and cannot be covered by our terms and conditions. If a user asks for payment outside of the website, please remind them that this is not permitted. 

Funds will leave your account at the time of payment, please refer to PayPal and Stripe’s terms and conditions for more information.

Accordion

You will receive payment for your booking within 7 days of your rental period ending. That way there is enough time for you to receive your item back, and ensure everything is as it should be.

If you experience a problem that cannot be resolved between lender and lendee, please contact info@secondouting.com for assistance.

As bookings are often time-sensitive, we expect our lenders to do all they can to ensure items arrive on time, using a tracked postal service to reduce the chance of late or non-delivery. 

If the item was sent late, please try and resolve this between lender and lendee before escalating. However, should you need to escalate the matter, please email info@secondouting.com for support.

As a community, we hope that issues can be resolved between lender and lendee wherever possible. However, if a dispute needs to be escalated, please contact info@secondouting.com.
